Travel diary: what to do in Dublin, Ireland 🌍

Hi there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted something on here, but I’m back with a whole lot of holiday stories and pictures. At the end of July I travelled to Dublin with my parents for nine days. We only spent two and a half of them in Dublin, so this first travel diary is about those two and half. It was my second time in Dublin, but last time was such a brief visit that I was glad to spend more time in this lovely city. Continue reading for photographs + what to do and what to skip. At the end of the post you’ll find a list with my favorite things to do in Dublin.

Hiking day ⸙ Posbank, Veluwezoom National Park

I gave my dad a train ticket for Father’s Day and we would go where ever he wanted to. We (well, he) decided to go hiking in Veluwezoom National Park, in the middle of the Netherlands. We got out of the train in a place called Dieren (which is Dutch for animals) and we immediately encountered a cat. Coincidence? I don’t think so 😉

A day in Zwolle (+ mini city guide)

I’ve passed through Zwolle at least a hundred times in my life. The only thing of the city I used to see was the Koperen Toren, a tower on the highway. I find that building particularly ugly, so I always believed that Zwolle was ugly as well. When I first visited two years ago I turned out to be so wrong: the city center is very pretty! Last weekend I went to a birthday party near Zwolle, so I decided to spend part of the day in the city. Besides an unexpected half marathon that made it nearly impossible to get back to the train station it was a lovely afternoon. A day in Amsterdam (+ mini city guide)

Saturday I spent the day in Amsterdam with my mom. For Mother’s Day I gave her a train ticket and told her she could choose where we’d go for a day. Amsterdam it was. We did a walking tour, went out for lunch, did some shopping to dodge the rain, ate cake in the 9 streets and enjoyed the otherwise lovely weather. A weekend in Antwerp (+ mini city guide)

Last weekend I was in Antwerp, for the second time in my life. Both times I’ve been surprised about the beauty of the historical center and the shrill contrast with the neighborhoods outside. In the city center you can enjoy the cozy terraces and the pretty facades. Outside you see a guy getting arrested hard-handed by the police and are the buildings a lot less charming. Last weekend I met up with three Erasmus friends halfway between the north of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, also know as Antwerp. I didn’t bring my camera for the weekend, so the pictures are from my first visit during a sunnier season. Keep reading for my favorite Antwerp pictures and ultimate tips.   Read more »
