In my last monthly Day Zero Project update I already mentioned that I felt very tempted to make changes in my list, but that I didn’t want to do it without thinking it through. I had the feeling that many of these goals didn’t suit my life anymore and the reason for that is that I’m moving to Spain very soon. Such a big change! Of course when I created my list of 101 goals, I didn’t count on emigrating halfway through, so there were quite some location based ones as well as goals that I already achieved but now I will have to complete them again in a new country.
4. Optional – replace the goals that are no longer doable [2/5]
Right from the start I added in this ‘goal’ that allows me to update the list a couple of times throughout the 1001 days. Maybe some people consider that cheating, but for me it only makes sense to do so. Life always changes and therefore goals also constantly evolve. What I thought my life would be like a year ago isn’t the same anymore now, so I clearly need to update my Day Zero Project List of 101 Goals!
1. Open an account to invest money for the achieved goals
I’d say the first change is my favourite one. Instead of just collecting the money in a piggy bank, I’m investing money for each achieved goal. Of course that’s a risk: the money could be worth either more or less at the end of the project. As you can see above, so far the money is worth a bit less, but there’s still plenty of time left until the end of my Day Zero Project for that to change. I didn’t want to invest everything at once, so I’m slowly adding until the amount that should be in there by now.
15. Find a place to live in
16. Make this place a home
17. Find a job i like
I already achieved these goals: I found a job as a communication officer and I found an apartment that felt like home. However, with moving to Spain I will have to do all of these again and therefore they’re not marked as achieved anymore. Let’s hope that I’ll be able to achieve them again soon!
Besides these major changes, I also edited or deleted some location based goals as well as some goals that would cost me quite a bit of money to complete (because hello, unemployed in Spain). Instead I added several goals related with moving abroad, language learning and integrating. I also added more career related goals and just switched up some of the random Just for Fun goals.
You can check out my complete list of goals here and I’ll do a monthly update like always in November!
